BIO
(B.1982) Lives and works in Lagos, Nigeria
Victoria Udondian is a visual artist whose work deals with the implication of second hand clothing import in Africa and repurposing different materials into textiles. She works with used fabrics, paper, plastic bags, and other recycled materials which are cut, sewn, tied, and glued to create paintings, sculptures and installations which reference garments’ histories in Nigeria.
Her works extends a constrained critique of the decline in inland weave production, a path of tellurian commerce and a internal impact, as good as a stream trends in African fashion
She studied painting at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria where she obtained a BA degree, graduating as the best painting student in 2003/2004 academic year.
She has taken part in several exhibitions within and outside Nigeria which include International Arts games exhibition, city of Vukovar, Croatia, in  May, 2011, “An Bè`Ba Bili’ (coming together north-south), Andechshof , Innsbruck Austria, in 2011, Energetic women, kings theatre, Southsea, England and also locally include ‘A kilo of Hope’, Yusuf Grillo Gallery, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos in April 2011, International Arts expo, in National Musuem, Onikan, Lagos in 2010, etc.
Her International residencies include: Art Enclosures – Residencies for visiting international artists in Venice 2011 and Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) / Triangle Arts Trust Artist Residency, stone house, Alakuko Otta, Lagos, 2010. She also has participated in international and local conferences and symposia which include: Symposium on the Arts: Tapping Local Resources for Sustainable Development In the 21st Century, Bamako, Mali, International Arts and Culture Summer Workshop, Ohio State University, Columbus in conjunction with national gallery of arts, Lagos in 2002, 2003 and 2004. etc. She also has works both in public and private collections which include National Gallery of Arts collection,Nigeria and the Museum of world arts games, vukovar, Croatia.

She has also warn some awards which include, 2010 Travel grant by National Gallery of Arts, Nigeria for lnternational arts symposium /workshop, the 2nd Summer Arts School in Bamako, university of Mali,Bamako , 2009 NGA ‘Award for Exhibition’: Second African Regional Summit and Exhibition on Visual Arts (ARESUVA) Abuja, Nigeria.
She is also a member of several professional associations which include, Society of Nigerian Artist (SNA) where she is presently the National publicity secretary, Member of Catalyst Women Arts and Science Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK, Member of female artist association of Nigeria (FAAN), member of Visual Artist Society of Nigeria (VASON).
